Through Pine Capital Management, he serves as both a discretionary investor and strategic advisor, helping families allocate capital across global public and private markets while navigating cross-border complexity. His focus is on safeguarding and compounding family capital over generations through globally diversified portfolios and differentiated access to opportunities. He also manages his own Single-Family Office through Pine Capital Management, which he established following the successful exit of his first business built in Hong Kong and China for global markets. What began as a technology-focused venture platform has since evolved into a globally diversified asset management and multi-family office business serving families across regions and asset classes. His work centers on asset allocation, portfolio construction, and global diversification across equities, fixed income, real estate, and select private investments. He also plays an active advisory role in cross-border transactions, supporting families on international investments, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships with an approach grounded in alignment, governance, and long-term relationship building. This has included advising a Korean consumer company seeking Southeast Asian manufacturing and distribution partners, a global automotive group exploring innovative technology partnerships, and a Korean industrial and metals business sourcing new suppliers across Southeast Asia, among many other cross-border situations. Hyuk-Tae’s perspective is shaped by a combination of institutional finance and entrepreneurial experience. He began his career at Goldman Sachs Asia Treasury, managing intraday liquidity across Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and Indonesia with daily flows exceeding US$500 million, building a disciplined foundation in credit, liquidity, and risk management. He later gained firsthand experience as a founder and operator, which continues to inform his pragmatic and relationship-driven approach to advising families and principals. Hyuk-Tae holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Queen’s University in Canada and completed a one-year exchange program at the Guanghua School of Management, Peking University.
